Educating, advocating, ensuring access to justice
The Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center (PIRC) is a nonprofit organization in York, Pennsylvania that provides free legal help for vulnerable immigrants in civil detention and in our community in south central Pennsylvania. In detention, PIRC provides legal education and legal services for immigrants facing deportation, including those with mental and physical illness, who are illiterate, and who have fled trauma, torture, and persecution in their home country. In the community, PIRC serves immigrant survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking, and provides assistance to families who are now more vulnerable to detention/deportation under current enforcement policies. Our staff and supporters empower vulnerable immigrants with free education, legal representation, and advocacy so that immigrants are able to remain with their families, escape persecution, and find safety and hope.
At PIRC, we believe:
- In supporting family unity. Strong families make for strong communities.
- In providing available legal protections to vulnerable immigrants that create safety for themselves and their families.
- Every person deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.
- Every person’s contribution counts in creating a shared prosperity in our community.
